Quality
Gum Base Co.'s Quality Policy, set down in order ensure ongoing improvements to performance and customer satisfaction, can be summed up in the points below:
• boosting penetration on the current market and winning over new markets by offering quality products and investing in research into gum bases for chewing gum and in the development of compressed or powdered gum, destined for the advanced nutraceutical and confectionery sector;
• analysing customers' needs carefully, in order to strengthen and gradually improve relations with them and keep them coming back;
• helping customers to find alternative solutions to cope with the current crisis period the whole world is facing; these solutions must be economical without compromising on quality;
• providing pre- and post- sales assistance to ensure products are used appropriately;
• treating suppliers as an integral part of the Company, in order to achieve the standards set and to make them more aware and responsible, thus allowing us to guarantee customers a perfect all-round service;
• setting targets and monitoring performance, in order to guarantee ongoing improvements in our results and in the way we operate;
• maintaining demonstrable commitment to adhering to the Quality principle by continuing to comply with the standards required for ISO 9001/2000 certification.
Food hygiene and safety
Gum Base Co. operates in full compliance with all the pertinent regulations regarding food hygiene. We aim to:
• provide ongoing training and updates throughout all company departments, so that self-monitoring activities can be carried out responsibly and in compliance with the rules set down by our health and hygiene quality system;
• make a public commitment to adhere to the principle of "health and hygiene" regarding all our products by continuing to comply with the BRC Food – HACCP certification and GMP Food standards;
• set targets and monitor performance so as to constantly improve our results and the way we operate.
Safety and health of workers
Gum Base Co. operates in full compliance with all the pertinent regulations regarding health and safety in the workplace (Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008 - implementation of art.1 of Law no. 123 of 3/08/07). We aim to:
• guarantee compliance with legislation regarding safety and the environment;
• prevent risks right from the product planning stage, by paying attention to the materials chosen and identifying appropriate methods and technologies;
• ensure working environments are suitably safe and that activities can be carried out ergonomically;
• safeguard workers' health by carrying out constant medical monitoring and relevant assessment;
• prevent possible accidents by carrying out daily checks to ensure the active and passive protection systems of machinery are functioning correctly;
• continue to offer information and training to all our staff on the issue of workplace health and safety;
• actively encourage everyone who works with us to promote the implementation of risk prevent strategies;
• ensure that staff from outside firms and self-employed workers called upon to work in our factory are made aware of the specific risks present therein, and take care to see to it that the preventive and protective measures in place are strictly complied with;
• ensure that staff from outside firms and self-employed workers operating in our factory are provided with the appropriate equipment necessary to carry out their tasks safely;
• implement effective accident prevention measures and limit the damaging consequences for workers, the environment and staff health, by adopting the best techniques available and economically viable;
• set targets and monitor performance so as to constantly improve our results and the way we operate.
Respect for the environment
Gum Base Co. operates in full compliance with all the pertinent regulations regarding the environment and the health and safety of workers. We aim to prevent and reduce environmental impact, in particular by:
• implementing an integrated waste management policy in agreement and cooperation with our local interlocutors, with the objective of bringing about constant improvements to the area;
• ensuring that integrated water supply management helps save resources and improve surface water quality in the area;
• paying constant attention to the emissions from our factories into the environment;
• seeking solutions able to help to save energy and using energy from renewable sources, thus limiting the use of fossil fuels;
• making our products with the utmost respect for the environment and being aware of our responsibilities towards the community in which we operate;
• promoting training courses and events designed to make staff more environmentally responsible;
• supporting projects to recover and recycle packaging;
• setting targets and monitoring performance so as to constantly improve our results and the way we operate.
Respect for workers' rights
Gum Base Co. operates in full compliance with all the pertinent regulations regarding workers' rights. The Company:
• rejects all kinds of discrimination in hiring policy and human resources management;
• is committed to improving communication and teamwork between the various departments, to help them cooperate smoothly and thus to reach company targets;
• offers training and growth opportunities for staff so that everyone can fulfil their potential.
Every year, the Management undertakes to publish and revise its "Quality Policy" in cooperation with all the Company's staff, by affixing announcements on staff notice boards and calling explanatory meetings.
